Have you ever heard of the Proverbs 31 Woman? Who is she and why is she so desirable?
This chapter of the Bible describes her as “A woman of noble character who is far more precious than jewels.” She is wise, compassionate, business savvy, and motivated. Her husband and children praise her. Vs 31:29 says, “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
Uhmmm…sign me up, please!!
I would love to say this was a time of amazing spiritual growth where I dug into God’s Word and asked Him to reveal to me what it meant to be a Godly wife and mother, but…
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.Proverbs 31:30 English Standard Version
All the verses about the Proverbs 31 woman leading up to these are merely the examples of what the works of her hands looked like, BUT those works were NOT why she was praised!! In fact, not only was she not praised FOR her good works, but rather her works praise HER because they revealed her heart and pointed to one she served above all.
The Proverbs 31 Woman was praised because she feared the Lord and that was the motivation behind everything she did.
Big Picture Take Away
Whether it is in the home or out, for family or strangers, impacting the world or your local community…whatever it is that you do each day, do it for God’s glory!
- Start each morning when you wake up with a prayer, asking Him to draw you close. Psalm 139:23-24 is helpful.
- Get in your Bible sometime each day, even if it is just to meditate on a few verses. (Need help with this? See below!)
- Take your thoughts captive. This is Satan’s biggest target! Fight his lies that you need to be in control with the Truth that God is in control. Believe it or not, this takes practice and gets easier the more often you do it.
Getting in your Bible every day is so important, but developing the habit can be a challenge if it is not something you are used to. Get your copy of this FREE GUIDE: How to Connect with God, 3 Things You Can Start Today.
