I have this great t-shirt that always gets laughs whenever I wear it. It says, “Losing My Mind One Kid at Kid at a Time.” When people find out I have 5 kids, their eyes get real big and they start nodding like they completely understand why I have lost my mind. Like I have a “good excuse” to be a basketcase of a mother.
Here’s the thing, they had no idea what I was really dealing with. My anger was not funny.
And then it happened, the day that I decided to have it out with God.

And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”Mathew 4:39-40 English Standard Version
Much like Jesus calmed the raging storm in the sea, that day He also calmed me.
It was an experience that I will never forget, but it wasn’t an instant transformation. I wasn’t suddenly a wife and mother that never got angry or overreacted again. I wasn’t suddenly a woman who never felt overwhelmed and didn’t seek comfort in her own abilities. But it was a first step towards reconnecting with God and growing my faith that was weary and weak. It was the beginning of experiencing His grace in my imperfections.
